LU Policy Number: ER.003
Effective Date: 06/01/2018
Approval Date: 6/2/2018
Revised Date: N/A
Purpose:
This proposed policy will allow for the acceptance of international credential evaluations conducted by additional international credential services. Prior to this policy, academic coursework completed at an educational institution outside of the United States was required to be evaluated by one of the following services before being used in the determination of admissions eligibility and/or the awarding of transfer credit: World Education Services, Josef Silny & Associates, or Global Education Group. The inclusion of additional acceptable services will better serve applicants as international credential evaluation services vary greatly in cost, turnaround times, methods by which credentials are collected and/or submitted, and evaluation results.

Acceptance of the validity, interpretation, and application of any international credential evaluation is determined at the level of the institution. {A Guide to Selecting a Foreign Credentials Evaluation Service, (2009, June 17), retrieved from http://www.nafsa.org.}

Definitions:
International Credential Evaluation Services: Services and agencies specializing in the verification of internationally earned academic credentials, as well as the recommendations of
U.S. and institutional equivalencies (education level, grading, credit hours, etc.)
Policy Title
International Evaluation Services for Admissions & Transfer Credit Evaluations Policy
Policy Statement
Life University utilizes international credential evaluations in the determination of both admissions eligibility and/or the awarding of transfer credit. These evaluations are conducted by third-party services specializing in the verification and conversion of international credentials into their U.S. equivalent. International credential services are not endorsed or monitored by a governmental authority; yet, they may apply for membership in professional associations such as the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AIC) and/or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). These associations evaluate services for acceptance and member institutions agree to abide by prescribed Codes of Conduct.
In the determination of admissions eligibility and/or the awarding of transfer credit, Life University will accept international credential evaluations conducted by only those services belonging to or recognized by one or both or these associations.
Procedure(s)
The acceptance/determination of eligibility for international credential evaluations will be based on the following:
-World Educations Services, Josef Silny & Associates, and Global Education Group remain the preferred international credentials evaluation services in publications and in communication with applicants.
-Completed international credential evaluations must be sent directly from the evaluation service to Life University. Evaluations may not be submitted by student and/or applicants directly.
-Other international credential evaluations may be considered, provided the service is actively recognized by one of these two professional associations: Association of International Credential Evaluators (AIC) and/or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
