Policy Title

COC Final Dismissal Policy

Policy Statement

Final dismissal in the College of Chiropractic (COC) results if a student is dismissed a second time. There is no appeal for final dismissal.

Procedure(s)

After a student has been dismissed from the COC, they may appeal their dismissal to the COC Dismissal Appeals Committee.  The COC Dismissal Appeals Committee will review the information provided by the appellant and recommend to the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA).  The final decision is up to the VPAA.  If the VPAA approves accepting the appeal, the student will be allowed to register for courses within that program within 2 quarters of receiving the decision.  If they do not register within 2 quarters, they will have to reapply to the program and be evaluated for readmission through the COC Admissions Committee.  Readmission is not guaranteed.  If the student is dismissed again after approval from the VPAA, then the student will be considered academically dismissed and will no longer be eligible for readmission.
If the student appeals to the COC Dismissal Appeals Committee and their appeal is recommended for and approved by the VPAA, they may be considered for readmission after completing the requirements of the Reinstatement Policy.  If the student is dismissed again after returning under the Reinstatement policy, the student will be considered academically dismissed and will no longer be eligible for readmission.
