BIO 101 - Introduction to Life Science

This course is designed to provide the non-science/non-allied health student with a general overview of basic biological principles and concepts. Emphasis will be placed on the nature of science, structure and function of cell membranes, basic chemistry, function of the human body and human genetics. May not be used as prerequisite biology for the Doctor of Chiropractic program or for science/biology majors.

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the life sciences, specifically biology and chemistry. Topics addressed will include the chemistry of biological molecules, cellular processes and function, and ecosystem interactions including energy dynamics, evolution, and biodiversity. This course is designed as a survey course for non-science degree seeking students or those who wish to have additional preparation prior to entering the General Biology and General Chemistry sequences. Course content includes a general overview of basic biological and chemical principles as well as basic scientific math skills. This course may not be used as a biology prerequisite for entry into the Doctor of Chiropractic program.
