Student interns provide care for outpatients while continuing in their development of clinical competency through a variety of patient care encounters. The clinic faculty doctors provide supervision and feedback for student interns allowing them to demonstrate entry practice level primary patient care. Student interns demonstrate their clinical competency, adjusting skills, and case management abilities. Interns continue to be assessed consistently by faculty clinicians on all aspects of patient care. Student interns are expected to demonstrate the increased ability to exercise clinical responsibility, critical thinking, reasoning in the care of patients, and in professional interactions. Students demonstrate the skills to build and develop a successful practice.
