NTR 401 - Nutrition Therapy I (4-0-4) (Prerequisites: NTR 306 and NTR 309 or Permission of Instructor) The pathophysiology (anatomy, physiology and metabolic) of disease, and the relationship between diet, disease, health attainment and maintenance is discussed. Diet modification for the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic disease is addressed. Medical and pharmacological treatment is also covered. Emphasis is placed on nutrition intervention for a multitude of problems such as: bone and dental health, diseases of the GI Tract (oral cavity, esophagus, stomach, intestinal), food allergy/ food intolerance, endocrine diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, weight management, eating disorders, rheumatic diseases, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.
