Degree Requirements


To complete the Bachelor of Science with 180 quarter credit hours and a major in Interdisciplinary Studies students are required to take the following curriculum listed below for Area I-VI.

Core Curriculum Offerings


Area I: Humanities, Health and Wellness 25 Quarter Credit Hours
Area II: Social Sciences 15 Quarter Credit Hours
Area III: Science, Mathematics and Computers 20 Quarter Credit Hours

Total: 60 Quarter Credit Hours


Bachelor of Science Offerings


Area IV: Foundations to Major 30 Quarter Credit Hours
Area V: Major Courses 60 Quarter Credit Hours
Area VI: Electives/Minor 30 Quarter Credit Hours

Total: 120 Quarter Credit Hours


Total Bachelor of Science Requirements: 180 Quarter Credit Hours

Core Curriculum Offerings   

Area IV: Foundation to Major


30 Quarter Credit Hours

Grade of “C” or better is required.

A. Humanities


(10 Quarter Hours Required)

(Courses drawn from Literature, Film, Foreign Language, Philosophy, writing courses, or any other Humanities course.)

B. Social Sciences


(10 Quarter Hours Required)

(Courses drawn from History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology courses, or any other Social Science course).

C. Science, Mathematics and Computers


(10  Quarter Hours Required)

(Courses drawn from Business, Exercise Science, Math, Natural Science, Nutrition, or any other academic discipline besides Humanities and Social Sciences).

Area V: Major Requirements


60 Quarter Credit hours

(Must be 300 level or above with required prerequisites or equivalent completed; or, on COC transfer list.)  Grade of “C” or better is required.

 

Courses chosen from 2 separate academic disciplines.

Academic Discipline 1:  Choose 25 CHs

Academic Discipline 2:  Choose 25 CHs

Choose any 300+ level Courses for 10 CHs

 

Area VI: Electives/Minor


30 Quarter Credit hours

(Either choose a minor 25 CHs + 5 CH electives OR 30 CHs with a minimum of 15 Chs 300+ Electives and 15 CHs General Elections)

Additional Completion Requirements


  1. Completion of at least four years of prescribed study, with at least 25% of coursework being earned at Life University.
  2. All courses used in Areas IV – VI must be passed with a “C” or better.
  3. Satisfactory completion of all courses with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  4. Completion of SLP requirements documented on co-curricular transcript.
  5. File a petition to graduate.
  6. Administrative and student reviews of records:
    1. Registrar Office – Complete a formal academic records review
    2. Complete Exit Counseling, if applicable, online at www.StudentAid.gov
    3. Student Accounting – rectify any account balance
