This is an introductory course covering structural and functional relationships of biomolecules and pathways of energy metabolism.

This course is intended to introduce the student to the chemistry and function of biomolecules. The chemistry of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids will be explored with an emphasis on how structure leads to function. Other topics covered in this class are: water & acid/base chemistry, descriptive enzymology & enzyme kinetics, the structure of DNA and differential gene expression.
