Undergraduate Academic Standing Policy [Revision]

Good Standing Requirements: In order to maintain Good Standing students must have a completion rate equal to or greater than 70% and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above.

Academic Warning (AW): Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.00-2.49 and/or have failed one course will be placed on Academic Warning.

Academic Probation (AP): Students will be placed on Academic Probation if they have a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0 OR have less than a 70% completion rate OR have failed more than one course per quarter.

Academic Dismissal (AD): A student will be dismissed from the academic program if he/she fails to meet the conditions of the Academic Performance Contract.

Procedure(s)

Academic Warning Procedure: Students on Academic Warning will be restricted to registering for a maximum of 15 credit hours and will be required to meet with their assigned academic advisor.

Academic Probation Procedure: Students who are placed on academic probation must meet the following requirements:

• Limited to register for 15 credit hours per quarter
• Will remain on Academic Performance Contract for 3 quarters and fulfil all requirements within the contract
• Must complete any required tutoring
• Must have academic advisement with a Specialized Professional Advisor per Academic Performance Contract

Academic Advising for Provisional Undergraduate Students Policy [Revision]

AS.029

Provisionally admitted undergraduate students are those who have been accepted into the College of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies and whose academic record does not meet the general admissions requirements for Life University’s undergraduate programs. Students admitted provisionally to undergraduate programs must earn a quarter GPA of 2.0 or above in their first quarter to avoid Academic Probation. Provisional undergraduate students must do the following:

1. Students new to the University must meet with their Specialized Professional Advisor (SPA) prior to the beginning of the quarter in which they are to enter the University. Returning students must make an appointment with their SPA during week 7 of the quarter to determine their schedule for the following quarter.
2. Complete all required placement testing and transitional courses as outlined in the student’s provisional acceptance contract.
3. Register for no more than 15 credit hours in the first quarter at Life University, three of which must be LFS 105 Academic Strategies. The student’s SPA must approve all other course selections.
4. Complete any and all required developmental courses and FYE 101 and LFS 105 with a grade of “C” or higher.
5. Successfully complete three-quarters with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
6. Successfully complete 40 quarter credit hours, 20 of which must be general education core courses unless the student is a transfer student and has met all general education core requirements.

If a new provisional student does not meet or fulfil items 1-3 all of the above prior to the start of the quarter, he/she will be administratively dropped from all courses.

During the quarter, provisional undergraduate students will be required to do the following in order to ensure academic progress is being maintained in each of their courses:

• Meet with their Specialized Professional Advisor (SPA) during weeks 1, 3, 7, and 9 of the quarter.
• Earn a quarter GPA of 2.0 or better to avoid being placed on Academic Probation.
• Attend documented study sessions per week at an approved tutoring location, such as Smart Thinking or the Student Success Center.

Payment Due Information to all Students

For Spring Quarter 2019 payment is due by Sunday, April 14, 2019 (including mandatory meal plans). Dis-enrollment by the Registrar’s office will be effective April 15, 2019. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Student Accounts office.

1. Confirmed financial aid (loans, grants, and scholarships)*
2. Credit Cards and checks via online through EagleNet

**NEW Spring 2019 Payment Plan**

Enrollment starts on 02/24/19 and ends on 04/05/19. Installment payments are due April 6th, May 6th & June 6th. Enrollment to the payment plan no longer extends after Friday of week 1. You must enroll prior by Friday of week 1 to take advantage of the payment plan ($25 Setup Fee).

Simple Steps to Enroll:

1. Go to EagleNet
2. Click on Student Accounts
3. Click on LU Payment Plan
4. Click Enroll in Payment Plan

Neither Your Diploma nor your Transcript will be released until all financial obligations to the University have been met. 

Spring Quarter Financial Aid Disbursement Procedures

Direct Deposit. Life University is pleased to provide direct deposit for all living expense disbursements. To have your monies deposited directly into your U.S. bank account, visit EagleNet to enroll.

Disbursement Policy. 19/SP Qtr. initial disbursements for Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Pell Grant, GTEG, and SEOG will begin in the first week of classes April 1st, 2019.

Life University will release living expense refunds to students only after verifying student’s attendance status and making sure no financial or academic holds are on their records. Students must be enrolled in courses counting towards their degree to be reviewed for aid eligibility. Federal aid cannot be awarded for courses that do not count toward the degree. 

All unpaid tuition/fees/meal plans and other University debts (such as but not limited to lab fees or institutional charges) are deducted from students’ financial aid before disbursement. 

The disbursement for Graduate PLUS Loans, HOPE Scholarship and all other scholarships for Spring Quarter 2019 will occur during the 2nd week of the quarter, provided funds are available. Only students who have submitted all the necessary paperwork will have their disbursement available during this time frame.

Please remember that in order to qualify for Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant GTEG you must be enrolled UG full-time (12 hours or more) as of April 8th, 2019 for Spring Quarter. In addition, to qualify for a full-time HOPE award you must be enrolled UG full-time as of April 8th, 2019, otherwise, you will receive a part-time (6-11 hours) HOPE award.

Living Expense Refund. Direct Deposits will be made when all proceeds have been received and all eligibility requirements for Financial Aid programs have been met, and in accordance with Federal Regulations related to Title IV funds which are: 

• No later than 14 days after the first day of class if Federal funds are credited on or before the first day of class. OR
• No later than 14 days after the credit balance occurred if the funds were credited after classes began.

You will receive your living expense refund on or after April 1, 2019:

• If you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress (as defined by the Financial Aid office), and
• Your aid proceeds have been disbursed to Life University. 

However, if you receive a living expense refund before April 1, 2019 and drop hours the week of April 1, 2019 you may be over-awarded on your financial aid eligibility. Federal Regulations require that the Financial Aid Department notify the Office of Student Accounts to send back the amount of your aid, if any, you are not eligible to receive, due to the drop-in hours. (See Disbursement Policy above).

Your refund may be delayed if you filed your Financial Aid forms late, or they are incomplete.

Preregistration Time Summary

Priority Preregistration for GR and UG begins Saturday, February 23, 2019 and ends Monday, February 25, 2019 at 7am.

Priority Preregistration for DC begins Saturday, March 2, 2019 and ends Monday, March 4, 2019 at 7am..

GR and UG: Assigned preregistration starts Monday, February 25, 2019.

DC students: Assigned preregistration starts Monday, March 4, 2019.

To view your DC, Graduate, or Undergraduate Preregistration time, please login to EagleNet. Preregistration for all programs ends on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 11:59pm..

Registration for new students, as well as current and returning students will open on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 8am and will remain open until Friday, April 5, 2019, 11:59pm.

Important to Note:

• Preregistration times are randomly assigned and determined by the number of completed credit hours.
• If you were assigned a priority preregistration time and miss the opportunity to utilize that window of time, you will have another opportunity for preregistration during the normal preregistration period. Once priority preregistration has closed, you can view your additional preregistration time in EagleNet.
• Once your preregistration time opens, it will remain open until Friday, April 5, 2019.
• If you do not plan to register for Spring 2019, please complete the Withdrawal/Hiatus Form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible. Graduate and Undergraduate students must submit this form before Friday, March 15, 2019 to ensure you do not receive the $50 charge for non-registration.
• Please rectify ALL HOLDS in advance of your priority/preregistration time!

Clinic Re-Entry Information for Students/Interns

If you are not active in clinic for one or more quarters, you will be required to take and pass the clinic re-entry exam (CLIN 5600 ). OSCE may affect this. Being “Active” is defined as having completed 10 spinal adjustments, one physical/CMR and one x-ray during the quarter. Please contact Dr. Mark Ferdarko with questions concerning re-entry. If you have any questions as to how OSCE may affect this, please contact Dr. Schwitz.
