Policy Revisions & Updates

Doctor of Chiropractic Program (DCP) Dual Degree Course Restriction Policy [NEW]

Any student enrolled in DCP who is not in Good Academic Standing, but who is enrolled in a secondary program or seeking dual degrees from Life University, will be restricted as to the number of courses they can register for outside of the DCP.

Procedure: The criteria to determine restrictions are as follows:

• Good Standing = No Restriction
• Academic Warning = Only allowed to take a maximum of 2 courses in the additional program
• Academic Probation = Not allowed to take any courses in the additional program

The criteria is based on the College of Chiropractic Academic Standing Policy AS.039

DCP Dual Degree students will have their status reviewed each quarter on the first Tuesday after official grades are posted in Colleague for the quarter.

DCP Progression Policy [REVISION]

In accordance with the Council on Chiropractic Education Policy 56 which states that at  least 70% of entering students must complete the Doctor of Chiropractic Program within 150% of the time normally designated for completion of the degree, each student enrolled in the DCP will be required to successfully complete a minimum of 18 credit hours per quarter.

Procedure: Every College of Chiropractic student will be checked every quarter to determine compliance with the DCP Progression Policy. A report will be generated by the end of the third week of each quarter by the University Advisement Center (UAC) to provide a list of students who are not in compliance.

Any student that is found in non-compliance with the DCP Progression Policy will be placed on Academic Warning and required to meet with their advisor.

College of Chiropractic Academic Standing Policy [REVISION]

Good Standing Requirements: In order for students to maintain Good Standing, they must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and a completion rate of equal to or greater than 70%.

Academic Warning (AW): Students who meet any of the following criteria will be placed on Academic Warning:

• Cumulative GPA of 2.0-2.49
• Less than a 70% completion rate
• Have failed 2 or more courses in one quarter
• Have failed the same course two times
• Successfully completed less than 18 credit hours per quarter

Academic Probation (AP): Students will be placed on Academic Probation if their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 and/or if they have failed the same course three times.

Academic Dismissal (AD): A student will be dismissed from the program if he/she fails to meet conditions of the Academic Performance Contract (APC).

Procedure(s):

Academic Warning: Students placed on academic warning must complete the following requirements:

• Register for the number of credit hours determined in accordance with the DCP Progression Policy AS. 040
• Retake failed course(s) the next quarter
• Must meet with assigned academic advisor
• Recommended academic support

Academic Probation: Students who are placed on Academic Probation must follow the below requirements:

• Placement on an Academic Performance Contract (APC)
• Limited in the amount of credit hours they can register for determined by GPA range
  • > 1.95 = 23 - 25 credit hours
  • 1.5 - 1.95 = 19 - 22 credit hours
  • < 1.5 = 16-18 credit hours
• Retake failed course(s) the next quarter
• Participate in Academic Support
• Academic advisement with a Specialized Professional Advisor (SPA) or an AAT Coordinator (as applicable

Payment Due Information to all Students

For Winter Quarter 2020 payment is due by Sunday, January 26, 2020 (including mandatory meal plans). Dis-enrollment by the Registrar’s office will be effective January 27, 2020. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Student Accounts office.

Acceptable Forms of Payment

1. Confirmed financial aid (loans, grants, and scholarships)
2. Credit Cards and checks via online through EagleNet

Winter 2020 Payment Plan

Enrollment starts on 11/24/19 and ends on 01/17/20. Installment payments are due Jan. 18th, Feb. 18th & Mar. 18th. You must enroll prior by Friday of week 1 to take advantage of the payment plan ($25 Setup Fee).

Simple Steps to Enroll:

1. Go to EagleNet
2. Click on Student Accounts
3. Click on LU Payment Plan
4. Click Enroll in Payment Plan

Neither Your Diploma nor your Transcript will be released until all financial obligations to the University have been met. 

Winter Quarter Financial Aid Disbursement Procedures

Direct Deposit. Life University is pleased to provide direct deposit for all living expense disbursements. To have your monies deposited directly into your U.S. bank account, visit EagleNet to enroll.

Disbursement Policy. Winter 2020 quarter initial disbursements for Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Pell Grant, GTEG, and SEOG will begin in the first week of classes January 13, 2020.

Life University will release living expense refunds to students only after verifying student’s attendance status and making sure no financial or academic holds are on their records. Students must be enrolled in courses counting towards their degree to be reviewed for aid eligibility. Federal aid cannot be awarded for courses that do not count toward the degree. 

All unpaid tuition/fees/meal plans and other University debts (such as but not limited to lab fees or institutional charges) are deducted from students’ financial aid before disbursement. 

The disbursement for Graduate PLUS Loans, HOPE Scholarship and most tuition-based scholarships will occur during the 2nd week of the quarter, provided funds are available. Only students who have submitted all the necessary paperwork will have their disbursement available during this time frame.

Please remember that in order to qualify for Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant GTEG you must be enrolled UG full-time (12 hours or more). In addition, to qualify for a full-time HOPE award you must be enrolled UG full-time (12 hours or more) or to receive part-time award you must be enrolled in UG 6-11 hours.

Educational/Living Expense Refund. Direct Deposits will be made when all proceeds have been received and all eligibility requirements for Financial Aid programs have been met, and in accordance with Federal Regulations related to Title IV funds which are: 

• No later than 14 days after the first day of class if Federal funds are credited on or before the first day of class. OR
• No later than 14 days after the credit balance occurred if the funds were credited after classes began.

You will receive your living expense refund on or after January 13, 2020:

• If you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress (as defined by the Financial Aid office), and
• Your aid proceeds have been disbursed to Life University. 

However, if you receive an educational/living expense refund before January 13, 2020 and drop hours that week, you may be over-awarded on your financial aid eligibility. Federal Regulations require that the Financial Aid Department notify the Office of Student Accounts to send back the amount of your aid, if any, you are not eligible to receive, due to the drop-in hours. (See Disbursement Policy above).

Your refund may be delayed if you filed your Financial Aid forms late, or they are incomplete.

Preregistration Time Summary

Priority Preregistration for GR and UG begins Saturday,  November 23, 2019 and ends Monday, November 25, 2019 at 7am.

Priority Preregistration for DC begins Saturday, November 30, 2019 and ends Monday, December 2, 2019 at 7am.

GR and UG: Assigned preregistration starts Monday, November 25, 2019.

DC students: Assigned preregistration starts Monday, December 2, 2019.

To view your DC, Graduate, or Undergraduate Preregistration time, please login to EagleNet. Preregistration for all programs ends on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at 11:59pm.

Registration for new students, as well as current and returning students will open on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 8am and will remain open until Friday, January 17, 2020, 11:59pm.

Important to Note:

• Preregistration times are randomly assigned and determined by the number of completed credit hours.
• If you were assigned a priority preregistration time and miss the opportunity to utilize that window of time, you will have another opportunity for preregistration during the normal preregistration period. Once priority preregistration has closed, you can view your additional preregistration time in EagleNet.
• Once your preregistration time opens, it will remain open until Friday, January 17, 2020.
• If you do not plan to register for Winter 2020, please complete the Withdrawal/Hiatus Form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible. Graduate and Undergraduate students must submit this form before Friday, December 13, 2019 to ensure you do not receive the $50 charge for non-registration.
• Please rectify ALL HOLDS in advance of your priority/preregistration time!

Clinic Re-Entry Information for Students/Interns

If you are not active in clinic for one or more quarters, you will be required to take and pass the clinic re-entry exam (CLIN 5600 ). OSCE may affect this. Being “Active” is defined as having completed 10 spinal adjustments, one physical/CMR and one x-ray during the quarter. Please contact Dr. Mark Ferdarko with questions concerning re-entry. If you have any questions as to how OSCE may affect this, please contact Dr. Schwitz.
