Athletics Travel Policy

Policy Statement

All athletic department travel will be managed centrally.  Prior to finalizing schedules, all teams must meet with AD to look for opportunities and synergies within our travel plans.  Solutions will take into account the following aspects when determining which type of vehicle and/or driver(s) are required for each trip.

• Size of travel party

• Distance and duration of trip

• Magnitude of the competition and weight of competitive advantage

• Academic ramifications for student-athletes

• Stress of event on coach due to length and stress of day combined with driving at the end of event.

• Cost effect on departmental travel budget

• Rotational balance of “fairness and logic.”

A student-athlete travel policy is listed in the student-athlete handbook.  HCs must familiarize themselves with these policies and hold their team to these minimum standards.

Any student wanting to travel from away contests with parents/guardians must sign an Event Travel Liability Agreement (found on dropbox).

Do NOT book your travel reservations on a third-party website (Priceline, hotels.com, etc.).  Booking through these sites decrease flexibility and often puts you in a bind if changes need to be made.
