College of Chiropractic Academic Standing Policy

POLICY STATEMENT


Good Standing Requirements:

Students will be considered in Good Standing if they have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5, a completion rate equal to or greater than 70%, and not qualify under the criteria below for academic warning, academic probation, or academic dismissal.

 

Academic Warning (AW):

Students who meet any of the following criteria will be placed on Academic Warning:

• Cumulative or Quarter GPA of 2.0- 2.49

• Less than a 70% cumulative completion rate

• Have failed a course the most recently enrolled quarter

• Have not successfully passed Part I of the national board exam by the end of their 7th academic quarter

• Successfully completed less than 18 credit hours the most recently enrolled quarter unless the student is within 18 hours of graduation.

 

Academic Probation (AP):

Students will be placed on Academic Probation if their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 or they have failed the same course two times. Once the student passes the twice failed course they will not be considered on probation for that course.

 

Academic Dismissal (AD):

A student will be dismissed from the program if he/she fails to meet the conditions of the Academic Performance Contract (APC).

 

PROCEDURE(S)


Academic Warning: Students placed on academic warning must complete the following requirements:

• Register for the number of credit hours determined in accordance with the DCP Progression Policy AS.040

• Retake failed course(s) the next quarter.

• Must meet with assigned academic advisor.

• Must meet with academic advisor to receive a national board plan.

 

Academic Probation: Students who are placed on Academic Probation must follow the below requirements:

• Placement on an Academic Performance Contract (APC)

• Limited to no more than 20 credit hours when cumulative GPA falls below 2.0.

• Retake failed course(s) the next quarter.

• Retake failed board(s)

Effective beginning winter quarter 2025, all students who have not successfully passed Part I of the national board exam by the end of their 7th academic quarter will be on Academic Warning.
