Policy Statement
Animals are not allowed on campus. All leash laws in Cobb County are enforced on our campus. Particularly, dogs are not allowed on the campus, to include the athletic fields, track facilities or in the buildings. Service and Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are allowed on campus in accordance with ADA/FHA guidelines.
Dogs can be taken on the 5 miles of running trail for the purposes of personal security, but the dog must be on a leash, and the owner must clean up after them. The University reserves the right to remove animals from campus.
Under special circumstances, the Vice President of Operations may make an exception to this policy to accommodate a special event.
4. Definitions
Service Animals are specifically allowed in compliance with ADA.
Emotional Support Animals (ESA’s) are specifically allowed in residence halls in compliance with the Fair Housing Act (FHA).
5. Procedures
It is recommended that service animals and service animals in training are encouraged to connect with Disability Services. All ESA’s must be approved through application to the Disability Services Department in conjunction with University Housing. Please refer to the Disability Services web page for the appropriate procedure.
Requests for animals to be allowed on campus for special events should be requested through LU’s approved event scheduling software.
