BIO 447 - Neuropharmacology (3-0-3)
Pre-requisite: BIO 446
This online course is third course of the neuroscience course series. This course will discuss the drug-induced changes in functioning of the nervous system. Students will learn about the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of some of the most commonly prescribed drugs used to treat neurological disorders and how the cellular and molecular actions of drugs affect synaptic transmission. This course will refer to specific diseases of the nervous system and their treatment in addition to giving an overview of the techniques used for the study of neuropharmacology. This course includes illustrated lecture videos, engaging case studies, interactive discussion boards, and assessments to help students expand their fundamental understanding of the nervous system and learn how the body is affected by pharmaceuticals. By the end of this course students will have a better understanding of neuropharmacology which will prepare them to succeed in graduate level courses in the future.
